Does acupuncture work for infertility?

A recent update on the Straits Times on Aug 22 07 featured evidence of acupuncture being proven in treating infertility. It is said that acupuncture can help to release endorphins in the brain to help couples relax as mentioned before that STRESS might be one of the most important factor why couples are unable to conceive.
Acupuncture can help to improve blood supply to the female sexual organs and also increase sperm count. An American journal had done an experiment using acupuncture in couples compared with control group without acupuncuture. 39% of couples managed to conceive in the first group compared with 26% in the control group. 1 lady gave testimonial that acupuncture works after she complements it with IVF. She had tried for 5 years prior to this.

My experience with acupuncture to overcome infertility.

Acupuncture is a 4000-year practice. It uses needles to simulate acupoints that are supposed to restore health.

I tried acupuncture when I was trying to conceive end of last year after reading about it in the local Chinese daily. The chinese physician used several needles that tries to stimulate the sexual organs, in my case the ovaries. She also gave me accounts of couples whose husbands had low sperm counts or the wives had irregular menses who became pregnant after going through some cycles of acupuncture. The impression I got was the result might be quite fast. Anyway I tried for the acupuncture treatment. But my goodness, it was the ultimate pain!! You would not want to move any part of the body when the needles are inside you even if there is itch. And then a hot lamp is used to shine on the needles. It could get quite hot. And the cost was not cheap in total after all the cost of the oral medications is included. I had to fork out near 100 bucks per treatment.
I went for the treatment after work and the treatment time was about an hour excluding waiting time. I only went for about 4 courses of treatment thinking that it will not work. The strange thing is that I conceived 2 months later without other treatment!! Restrospectively I believe that it contributed somewhat to my conception.
It might be worth a try for those who are at their wit's end of what to do next??

How you can shrug off extra weight after pregnancy.

Don't let pregnancy be the "end of your body".

A usual pregnancy adds an extra 15 to 30 pounds to a woman. If the woman is underweight, she will have to put on more weight. The weight gains helps the baby to grow! However according to the Mayo clinic, if you gain more than the recommended weight during pregnancy, and not lose it later within 6 months, there is a pretty high chance that you will become obese later. We have seen many cases of women who just can't shrug off the extra weight after pregnancy. Gone are the days where they can find their waists. Women must not let this affect your self-esteem!

There must be a good plan to start losing weight.

  • Losing about 1-2 pounds a week is a good bet. Do not resort to crash dieting. The pounds do come back after the initial loss because that is your body's protective mechanism to ensure that you do not enter starvation.
  • Do not deprive your baby of nutrients! Eat a balance diet.
  • Exercise faithfully!
  • Check if you have other medical conditions that prevent you from losing weight
  • Seek professional help if you have been doing these faithfully but still can't lose weight within 1 year.

Does woman have problem driving a manual car?

I have taken around 20 driving lessons in total and I still have problems controlling my clutch. I have written down all my mistakes and they are about 2 A4 pages long! I think my instructor is going mad. I step on the accelerator too hard during startup and release the clutch too fast. Or I forget to gear down during turns. I panic when I reach places where I have to stop and turn right or left or U-turn because starting up from gear 1 is simply tortuous. I was horned at several times for starting up too slowly. And I think I have parallex error: I can't see if my car is straight after parallel parking. I can't seem to tell when I should pull up the handbrake. To my instructor's horror, I actually failed to fully release the handbrake a few times when I make my turns.

I really hope pratice makes perfect and I have another 2 months to go before my driving test.
