How you can shrug off extra weight after pregnancy.

Don't let pregnancy be the "end of your body".

A usual pregnancy adds an extra 15 to 30 pounds to a woman. If the woman is underweight, she will have to put on more weight. The weight gains helps the baby to grow! However according to the Mayo clinic, if you gain more than the recommended weight during pregnancy, and not lose it later within 6 months, there is a pretty high chance that you will become obese later. We have seen many cases of women who just can't shrug off the extra weight after pregnancy. Gone are the days where they can find their waists. Women must not let this affect your self-esteem!

There must be a good plan to start losing weight.

  • Losing about 1-2 pounds a week is a good bet. Do not resort to crash dieting. The pounds do come back after the initial loss because that is your body's protective mechanism to ensure that you do not enter starvation.
  • Do not deprive your baby of nutrients! Eat a balance diet.
  • Exercise faithfully!
  • Check if you have other medical conditions that prevent you from losing weight
  • Seek professional help if you have been doing these faithfully but still can't lose weight within 1 year.
